Katie Estabrook started her journey as a journalist after transferring to Coastal Carolina University in the spring of 2015. It was from there that she would find her passion for seeking and reporting the truth.
Because of this, Katie was naturally drawn to The Chanticleer newspaper on Coastal’s campus. She immediately got involved, first as a reporter, then as assistant editor and eventually editor-in-chief. Once editor, Katie utilized her leadership and communication skills to grow a staff of eight, in the fall of 2016, to a staff of 19 active members in the spring of 2017.
The newspaper is not the only place where Katie has succeeded. Although she was actively involved with The Chanticleer, four honors societies and the campus’ social norms campaign, Katie was able to secure a cumulative 4.0 GPA throughout her five semesters at Coastal.
Recently graduated, she is currently working as a general assignment reporter for The Daniel Island News in Charleston, S.C. With a fire that is unmatched, Katie is determined to continue pursuing a career in journalism and is ready to tackle any obstacles thrown her way.
